Potlucks
We meet for potlucks at the LGBT Community Center, 208 West 13th Street in Manhattan, the third Sunday of every month at 3pm. We ask everyone to bring a vegan dish to share (no meat, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy or honey) and a $5 contribution to help with expenses ($12 if not bringing food; however, nobody is ever turned away for inability to pay). No RSVP is necessary, but it encourages others to attend. If you know what you're bringing, please mention it in your RSVP so we can avoid having multiples of the same dish.

Farm Sanctuary Walk

On Sunday October 23rd Farm Sanctuary will hold their annual 'Walk for Farm Animals' in Central Park. Join Veg Out for this special fundraiser as we form a team and have fun for this great cause!

From the event website: "For 25 years, Farm Sanctuary has relied on the Walk for Farm Animals to support its life-saving mission to protect farm animals from cruelty, inspire change in the way society views and treats farm animals, and promote compassion.

We are walking with Farm Sanctuary to give animals a voice and to challenge the cruel practices of the factory farming industry. Please support our participation in the Walk for Farm Animals by making a donation today!"

Although registering for the Veg Out team and helping us to raise money for Farm Sanctuary isn't required, it is strongly encouraged as it's the point of the event — so please register with our team (including registering any non-Veg Out friends/family...which is fine for this event) & use this link to post on Facebook, send out an email, etc. to your friends/family and ask that they donate whatever they can!

VegOut After Dark: Pine Box Rock Shop

A few days post-Halloween but you'll still be in the spirit, right? We'll gather at a former casket factory to toast the dead (and the living) with alcoholic and non-alcoholic offerings.

Here's the awesome truth about Pine Box Rock Shop — it's all vegan. All their offerings are devoid of animal body parts and fluids. You can imbibe without thinking about isinglass (dried fish bladders used in the clarification of wine and beer), bone char, gelatin and all the other animal derivatives used to clarify booze. Do animal body parts really need to be incorporated into this debauchery? Um, no.

There is Brooklyn Natural Foods at the end of the block where you can pick up vegan and vegetarian food to bring to Pine Box should you desire some nibbles (or dinner) with your beverage of choice. Pine Box does serve empanadas from V-Spot and an assortment of chips, too.
